About

The title of this blog was inspired by a story about a boy called Oscar who aged 10 told his father he was feeling sad because it seemed life was an unwinnable game – there were so many problems in the world and nothing seemed to make things any better. The fact that it didn’t seem worth trying was at the root of his sadness.

What started as an exploration of how ‘the game’ might be won, has become a journey through grief and loss and the transformations that can take place on the way, particularly as we engage with our wild natures and the natural environment. This has led me to explore ecofeminism as a response to the environmental crisis we are facing – one that makes regaining our sense of agency in relation to the world all the more urgent. Ultimately, it’s still a blog about ‘new’ politics, that brings together my interests in activism and feminism – with a look at the role of cafes and community thrown in – with a broad focus on how we can restore a just and balanced relationship with the earth.
